in the meaning "bear" (by humans) mostly the autonomous form is taken (in the passive sense):
Rugadh é = he was born
Rugadh é di = she bore him ("he was born to her")
Through the prefix do came the verb tabhair = give (lit.: "to-carry")
(recognizable mainly on the old absolute form do-bheireann, whereby the prefix do- was often omitted, but the verb was still lenited; comp. bheireann sé = he gives, beireann sé = he brings)
